RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-three; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell was a widely respected Wheaton civic leader and the loving husband of Judy; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell was the much-adored father of Robert and Kelly, the grandfather of nine and the great-grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell was the dear brother of Jeannine; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell was appointed to serve as a member of the Wheaton City Council in 1984 and won election to the office in 1985, 1989 and 1993; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell previously served as a member of the Wheaton Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals; and
WHEREAS, A native of downstate Decatur, the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell graduated from Millikin University in 1963 and served in the United States Air Force before enjoying a long and successful career at IBM in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Following retirement from IBM and resignation from the City Council in 1995, the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell moved to Citrus Springs, Florida; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Donald L. Maxwell was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of July, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Donald L. Maxwell.
