RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Lauren Hill has gone to her eternal reward at the age of 19; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Greendale, Indiana, Lauren Hill graduated in 2014 from Lawrenceburg High School where she was homecoming queen, excelled academically and was always active in sports; and
 
WHEREAS, Lauren Hill attended Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio where she played as a freshman on the women's basketball team; and
 
WHEREAS, Lauren Hill inspired countless people through her fight with cancer and helped to raise both awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research; and
 
WHEREAS, Through her bravery and perseverance, Lauren Hill taught others that every day is a blessing and personified the motto, "Never give up"; and
 
WHEREAS, Lauren Hill urged people to "live in the moment" because tomorrow is never promised; and
 
WHEREAS, Despite suffering from an inoperable brain tumor, Lauren Hill continued to play basketball for the Mount St. Joseph University Lions as long as possible; and
 
WHEREAS, Lauren Hill enjoyed nature, hiking, camping and biking and was the best buddy of Sophie, her little dog who meant so much to her; and
 
WHEREAS, The courage, sacrifice and dedication of Lauren Hill serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Lauren Hill to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Lauren Hill will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To her parents, D. Brent and Lisa M., her brother, Nathan, and her sister, Erin, Lauren Hill imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixth day of May, 2015, do hereby commemorate Lauren Hill for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lauren^Sll.
