RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 77; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and i

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci was the beloved husband for 53 years of Mary Frances; and

i

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci was the much-adored father of Mary Lou, Daniel, Michael and Nick and the dear grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci served as Band Director at Marshall, Parker and John F. Kennedy high schools; and

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci spent 28 years as Band Director of the St. Rita of Cascia Marching Mustangs; and j

WHEREAS, Over the course of his 38 year career as a music instructor, Louis A. Ricci touched the lives thousands of young people with his passion for excellence; and

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci and his bands played at Chicago Cardinals and Chicago Bears football games; and

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci had the distinct honor of conducting honor bands for the Chicago visits of Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci was inducted into the St. Rita Hall of Fame in 1980 and was named the St. Rita Man of the Year in 1983; and '

 

WHEREAS, Louis A. Ricci received the Congressional Teacher Merit Award in 1986, the Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award in 1997 and was inducted into the Midwest Music Festival Hall of Fame in 2006; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Louis A. Ricci serve as an example to all; and j

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Louis A. Ricci to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their ilives in ways they will never forget; and i

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Louis A. Ricci imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore j

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate Louis A. Ricci for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and J

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louis A. Ricci. j
