RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Dr. George Geppner has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 95; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. George Geppner was a leader in the field of podiatric medicine and the loving husband of the late Marjorie, nee Gorham; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. George Geppner was the much-adored father of Michael, Nancy, Patricia, Theresa and Robert, the grandfather of ten and the great-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. George Geppner served as a member of the United States Army Medical Corps during World War II; and

 

WHEREAS, Dr. George Geppner graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine, now the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine; and

 

WHEREAS, In 1980 Dr. George Geppner returned to his alma mater where he served as Vice President; and

 

WHEREAS, From 1982 to 1990 Dr. George Geppner was the 10th President of the institution where he remained until 2008 as an historian and archivist; and

 

WHEREAS, A man of goodness and humility, Dr. George Geppner was dedicated to the highest ideals of his profession; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. George Geppner serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. George Geppner to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. George Geppner imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-second day of February, 2017, do hereby commemorate Dr. George Geppner for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. George Gjg$pner.
