RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Conor Gee was officially installed as the 114th President of Rotary One, the world's first Rotary Club and service organization; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Conor Gee was installed on June 27, 2017 during a ceremony at the Union League Club of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, The Rotary movement began right here in Chicago, in 1905, when a small group of businessmen formed a charitable organization dedicated to serving their community and fostering fellowship among members of the professional community
WHEREAS, Today, the Rotary Club of Chicago boasts over 200 members who continue to meet on a weekly basis, a dedicated Foundation (the ROTARY/One Foundation, Inc.), a vibrant calendar of guest speakers, and strong participation in service projects both in Chicago and across the world; and
WHEREAS, Conor Gee has now become the youngest President in the 113-year history of the Rotary Club of Chicago, where he has ably served as a member of its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, In his private life, Conor Gee is a Lead Marketing Communications Consultant for Health Care Service Corporation, the largest customer-owned health insurance company in the United State, which operates Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in five states including Illinois,; and
WHEREAS, Previously, Conor Gee worked in marketing at Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare and as the Director of Marketing for Hearing Health Center; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Conor Gee serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Conor Gee becomes the youngest president in the 113-year history of the Rotary Club of Chicago; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby congratulate Conor Gee on his induction as President of Rotary One and do here by express our best wishes for his continued success and achievement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVpD, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Conor Gee.
