RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 32; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A member of the U.S. Army Golden Knights, Corey Hood tragically lost his life during a mid-air collision while parachuting during the Chicago Air and Water Show; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood had bravely served five tours of duty in Iraq as a forward observer; and
WHEREAS, A 14-year military veteran, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood was the recipient of two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Pathfinder Badge and the Air Assault and Combat Action badges; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rahm Emanuel memorialized Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood as "an American hero having dedicated nearly half his life in service to our nation"; and
WHEREAS, Formed in 1959, the Golden Knights are a famed recruiting team similar to the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy's Blue Angels; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood enjoyed sports, riding motorcycles, skydiving and spending time with his family; and
WHEREASf The courage, integrity and dedication of Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood serve as an example to all; and i
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his loving wife, Lyndsay, and his beloved family, Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate Sergeant 1st Class Corey Hood for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
