RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving husband of Dolores; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer was the much-adored father of Dan and Jim, the grandfather of nine and the great-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised on the South Side of Chicago, James R. Klinkhamer served in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations after World War II performing "mop up" responsibilities on small islands; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer later joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War; and

 

WHEREAS, Using leadership skills learned in the military, James R. Klinkhamer joined the Carpentersville Police Department in the mid-1950s; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer served for 19 years as the Police Chief of the northwest suburb where he presided over a period of growth; and

 

WHEREAS, In 1984 James R. Klinkhamer was named Chairman of the Kane County Sheriff's Merit Commission, a panel which oversaw hiring and promotions; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer retired from the Commission in 2008 and enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending the winter months in Florida; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of James R. Klinkhamer serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared James R. Klinkhamer to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, James R. Klinkhamer was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, James R. Klinkhamer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate James R. Klinkhamer for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Janties R. Klinkhamer.
