RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis Dvonch has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-three; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis Dvonch was a widely admired member of the medical community and the loving and devoted husband of the late Julie; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis Dvonch was the beloved father of Robert, Richard, Roger, Russell and Christine, the grandfather of five and the greatgrandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, As a senior staff surgeon at St. Anne's Hospital in 1958, Dr. Louis Dvonch treated victims of the tragic Our Lady of the Angels fire; and
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis Dvonch remained at the hospital four days and three nights caring for burn victims and performing skin grafts; and
 
WHEREAS, The youngest child of Slovakian immigrants, Dr. Louis Dvonch performed on violin at the 1933-1934 Chicago World's Fair and won a scholarship to study at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City; and
 
WHEREAS, A graduate of Loyola University Medical School, Dr. Louis Dvonch served in Panama as a member of the U.S. Army Medical Corps; and
 
WHEREAS, A physician of great talent and dedication, Dr. Louis Dvonch brought hope, healing and comfort to patients and their families during the course of his long career; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Dr. Louis Dvonch co-hosted a weekly medical talk show on Oak Park radio station WOPA; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Louis Dvonch serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Louis Dvonch to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Louis Dvonch imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Dr. Louis Dvonch for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Louis Dvonch.
