RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Thomas Yanul has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 74; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas Yanul was a prominent Chicago photographer and the loving husband of the late Natalia; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas Yanul was the dear brother of Richard and the late Michael; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas'Yanul was widely known for his panoramic photographs of architecture and large social gatherings, especially those shot from rooftops or other high vantage points; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of the Southwest Side, Thomas Yanul graduated from Gage Park High School, served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, and worked as a newspaper reporter; and
 
WHEREAS, By the early 1970s Thomas Yanul was working as a photographer for the Illinois Historic Structure Survey and identified 50,000 pre-World War II buildings of architectural interest across Illinois; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas Yanul left behind a rich and fascinating body of work that documented Chicago's changing skyline and history; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas Yanul serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas Yanul to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas Yanul was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas Yanul imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirtieth day of April, 2014, do hereby commemorate Thomas Yanul for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution presented to the family of Thomas Yanul.
