RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 53; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros taught traditional Mexican dance steps to thousands of students over his 18-year career as head of the Ballet Folklorico operated by the Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council on the Southwest Side; and
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros' students were perennial winners of the Acadez Folklorico 85 Contemporary National Dance Competition in San Antonio, Texas; and
WHEREAS, Wearing authentic Mexican costumes, Salvador Cisneros' troupe performed locally at venues including the Harris Theater, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Soldier Field, Toyota Park and Purdue University; and
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros' lessons gave his students a great sense of empowerment and showed that with practice and dedication they could achieve their goals; and
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros taught his students not only the joy, swagger and flourish of the colorful dances, but also a wide range of qualities such as discipline and punctuality; and
WHEREAS, Although many of Salvador Cisneros' students came from underprivileged backgrounds, they went on to excel academically and receive college scholarships; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Salvador Cisneros serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Salvador Cisneros to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Salvador Cisneros was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his parents, Salvador and Domitila, his three brothers, Martin, Rafael and Alejandro, and his sister, Isabel, Salvador Cisneros imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate Salvador Cisneros for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Salvador Cisneros.
