RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 80; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A resident of Huntley, Thomas Tully was the loving husband for 56 years of Diane; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully was the much-adored father of six children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, The son of a milkman, Thomas Tully was raised in the Back of the Yards community near 55th and Union, and graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully signed to play baseball for the Dubuque Packers, a minor league team operated by the Chicago White Sox, but was forced to give up his dream of being a pitcher after he injured his rotator cuff; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully went on to work at Englewood Electrical Supply before co-founding his own firm, Tully Electric; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully raised his family in Chicago and Elmhurst and was a faithful and devout Roman Catholic who has a special devotion to St. Padre Pio; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully was the founder of the fellowship of the Fallen Elm, a society which kept alive the legend of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional detective character Sherlock Holmes; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas Tully serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas Tully to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Tully was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas Tully imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby commemorate Thomas Tully for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas/^ully.
