Ladies and Gentlemen:
I transmit herewith a congratulatory resolution regarding the Curie High School Musicality Ensemble.
Your favorable consideration of this resolution will be appreciated.

^Qher&lS > °n June 17' 2016> tne Musicality Vocal Ensemble from Curie Metropolitan High School on Chicago's Southwest Side wowed judges and the entire Country with their inspirational rendition of One Direction's musical hit "Night Changes" on NBC's "America's Got Talent" television show; and
WHEREAS, "America's Got Talent" is a competition that showcases talented performers from around the world. The winner of the competition is decided by audience vote; and
WHEREAS, The Musicality Vocal Ensemble ("Musicality") was created in 2008 by Curie faculty member Michael Gibson in order to provide an artistic outlet for students; and
WHEREAS, Musicality is an elite, audition-based, vocal ensemble whose members rehearse on a school stairwell three hours a day, every day, after school in order to perfect their craft. Participating students must maintain a passing-grade G.P.A. in order to sing in the group; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Andrade, Ephraim Andrewin, Sara Bautista, Norberto Chavez, Violetta Chyc, Michelle Crawhorn, Diana Cruz, Anna Huang, Zindy Macias, Ernesto Martinez, Bertha Montelongo, Ulises Rincon, Axel Sandoval, Victor Valdez, Amanda Villagomez, Reggie Woods, and Philip Xu are the musically gifted students who represented Curie High School on "America's Got Talent"; and
WHEREAS, Their resounding performance, which met with a standing ovation from the audience, is lasting testimony to these students' hard work and perseverance, and has reminded young people everywhere that it is possible, through persistence and dedication, to realize a dream; and
WHEREAS, All Chicagoans extend their best wishes for continued success to Curie Metropolitan High School's Musicality Vocal Ensemble, as the group continues to compete in additional live rounds of "America's Got Talent", which will air later this summer, with the ultimate goal of winning the competition and its $1 million prize; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this twenty-second day of June, 2016, do hereby recognize and applaud Curie Metropolitan High School's Musicality Vocal Ensemble and its director, teacher Michael Gibson, for their success, and for highlighting the talents of Chicago Public School students before a national audience; and extend to them our best wishes for continued success during the remainder of the competition; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Curie Metropolitan High School, and to each member of its Musicality Vocal Ensemble, as a token of our appreciation and esteem.
