CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO JOHN COLLETTI ON RECEIVING THE 2015 SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
WHEREAS, On November 7, 2015, John Colletti, managing partner for Gibson's Restaurant Group, was named the 2015 Sportsman ofthe Year by the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this occasion by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, In 1977, George Randazzo founded the Italian American Boxing Hall of Fame to raise money for a struggling local Catholic youth program. The organization evolved into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame, raising over $6 million for scholarships and charitable causes; and
WHEREAS, John Colletti and the Gibson's Restaurant Group epitomize the ideals and goals of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame by supporting non-profit organizations such as Misericordia, Catholic Charities, and The Lynn Sage Foundation; and
WHEREAS, John Colletti grew up in the restaurant business serving as a bus boy, dishwasher, night cook, and bartender. John is a mentor to his employees, which most have been with the restaurant for well over ten years, and has hosted numerous sports figures, celebrities, and events; and
WHEREAS, John Colletti and the Gibson's Restaurant Group pride themselves on offering the highest quality of food and service in the fine dining industry, and they go out of their way to make sure those expectations are met. Gibson's Bar and Steakhouse is considered one ofthe top steakhouses in the world and is the highest grossing independent restaurant in Chicago. They not only serve delicious food and tremendous service but they build relationships that make customers feel like a large extended family; and
WHEREAS, Known for their ambiance, Gibson's displays hundreds of photos of famous patrons on the restaurant's "Wall of Fame" that occupy almost every square inch of wall space: now, therefore
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered here this thirteenth day of January, 2016 do hereby express our heartiest congratulations to John Colletti on receiving the 2015 Sportsman ofthe Year award; and
