MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Thomas R. Larson on January 8, 2014, at the age of fifty-nine; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, Born on September 4, 1954, Tom was the beloved husband for thirty-one years of Denise, nee DiCristina; loving father of Thomas M. and Tina; dearest brother of Douglas (Mary) and Maryann; dear uncle of Rick, Mike, Nick, Douglas and Bradley; cherished son-in-law of Nardine (the late Frank) DiDristina, cherished brother-in-law of Brook and Rick (Debbie) DiCristina; fond nephew of Josephine Forchione; dear son of Joan (the late Richard) and friend to all who knew him. Tom leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
 
WHEREAS, married to the love of his life for thirty-one years and the patriarch of a tight-knit family, he was a confidant and surrogate family member to many, offering his advice to anyone who asked for it; and
 
WHEREAS, he found joy in spending his days toiling happily away at a hot rod restoration, or delighting others around him while recounting stories of his carefree youth, the excitement of car racing, the tranquility he found in fishing, his stories full of passion for life; and
 
WHEREAS, he will always be remembered for his fun-loving, generous nature and quick wit and his notable smile, a warmth that was spread to many and will live in the memory of those who loved him; and
 
WHEREAS, Tom touched the lives of all who knew him in his community as a kind and generous man with a heart big enough to care for many. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and compassion will carry on in those who knew him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifth day of February, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Thomas R. Larson and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas R. Larson.
