RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf was the first Mayor of Prospect Heights and the loving husband for 56 years of June; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf was the much-adored father of Karen, Valerie and Jennifer and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Dixon, the Honorable Richard E. Wolf earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of San Francisco before earning a doctorate degree in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf enjoyed a long and highly successful career in industrial coatings and polymer research and development for manufacturers that included Valspar and DeSoto; and
WHEREAS, Known for his diplomacy and strong leadership skills, the Honorable Richard E. Wolf was Mayor of Prospect Heights from 1976 to 1983; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf convened the suburb's first City Council meeting in his home and gave Propsect Heights its critical direction in the early days of its inception; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf later served on the City's Police and Fire Commission from 1992 to 2013; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Richard E. Wolf serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Richard E. Wolf to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Richard E. Wolf was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Richard E. Wolf imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this first day of November, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Richard E. Wolf for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Richard E. Worf.
