RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner, the President of the Civic Committee of the Commercial Club of Chicago, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Lyman }. Gage Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution by an Individual; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Civic Federation annually presents the Lyman ]. Gage Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution by an Individual to those honorees who have consistently demonstrated dedication to civic concerns in the Chicago area; and

 

WHEREAS, Lyman J. Gage was the President of The First National Bank of Chicago and the driving force behind the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, which was a great financial and cultural success; and

 

WHEREAS, The recipients of the Lyman J. Gage Award are individuals who have earnestly strived to advance Chicago's grand tradition of civic commitment; and

 

WHEREAS, A distinguished member of Chicago's legal community, the Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner is Partner and former Chairman of Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago, where his practice specializes in complex litigation, state and regulatory compliance matters, and advises audit committees and boards of directors; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner is a veteran trial litigator with extensive experience in financial crimes, tax, securities, regulatory matters, multi-district, and class action cases; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner has enjoyed a highly regarded career in public service and is a former Illinois Attorney General of Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner is also a former Director of the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement and Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Considered one of our nation's leading lawyers, the Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner was named "2002 Person of the Year" by Chicago Lawyer Magazine and has served on the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad; and

 

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner serve as an example to all; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner on receiving this prestigious award and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success and achievement; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Tyrone C. Fahner.
