MEMORIAL FOR ELAINE M. LORENZ
WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Elaine M. Lorenz on March 31, 2019 at the age of 76; an
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on July 10, 1942 to loving parents, the late Stanley and Violet Williams (Willinski); and
WHEREAS, Elaine met and married the love of her life Francis S. Lorenz, and from this union they were blessed with seven wonderful children. Family was the center of Elaine's life. She was a loving wife, nurturing, and caring mother with strong morals who strongly believed in the importance of family fellowship and that education was essential; and
WHEREAS, Elaine received her Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Clarke College and Masters in Art Education from the University of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, she was an active member of the Sauganash Woman's Club, Sauganash Garden Club, and also enjoyed the Chicago Pastel Painters. Elaine was both a volunteer and participant with many other organizations; and
WHEREAS, Elaine was known for her kindness, passionate conversations, artistic talents, and her community work; and
WHEREAS, Elaine leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband Francis S. Lorenz Jr. and her seven adoring children; Amy Lorenz, Mary (Mike) Donohue, Anne (Gerald) Szybist, Candance (Larry) Swihart, Laura Lorenz, Frank III (Riley) Lorenz, John (Kathleen) Lorenz and thirteen precious grandchildren; devoted brothers; Richard Wilinski and Robert Williams and many extended family and treasures friends; and
WHEREAS, Elaine was predeceased by her loving parents, Stanley and Violet Williams (Willinski); and
WHEREAS, Elaine touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, warm and loving way and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her genuine character, faith and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this tenth day of April, 2019, do hereby express our most sincere sorrow on the death of Elaine M. Lorenz and extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Elaine M. Lorenz.
