RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-eight; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow was the loving and devoted husband for forty-four years of Stacy; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow was the much-adored father of Tyler and Hilary and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, the Honorable Martin Tuchow graduated from Marshall High School where he played center on the basketball team; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow served his country during World War II as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps; and
 
WHEREAS, Following the war, the Honorable Martin Tuchow graduated from the University of Wisconsin and John Marshall Law School and worked in private practice before entering public service; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow served as an official with the Illinois Attorney General's office and as an assistant to Cook County Sheriff Richard Elrod; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1974 the Honorable Martin Tuchow was elected to a seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners and ably represented a North Side district that included the Uptown and Edgewater communities; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Martin Tuchow was re-elected to two more terms in 1978 and 1982 and served as the Chairman of the County Board's Finance Committee; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Martin Tuchow serve as an example to all; and
 
 
 
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Martin Tuchow to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Martin Tuchow imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Martin Tuchow for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Martin Tuchow.
