RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, William K. Flood has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 82; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, William is survived by his brother John, sisters Anne (Martin) Quinn, Muriel McDarrah, his sister-in-law Denise (Phil) Dixon, sisters-in-law Wanda Evon and Mary Ann Flood, nine children, William, Brian, Kevin, Michele (Pat) Mele, Michael (Christine) Flood, Deborah (David) Dilorio, Christopher (Kerry) Flood, David (Julie) Flood, Coleen (Jay) Geary, Grandchildren William (Megan) Flood, Susan (Steve) Denson, Kara (Brian) Katzenbach, Michael (Stephanie Dziagwa), Sheila (Johnny Larson) Matthew (Melanie) Flood, Tom (Kristine) Flood, Shawn (Gianna) Flood, Brian, Christopher (Breanne) Flood, Eric, Justin, Courtney, Caroline, Charles, Patrick, Carole Anne, Anthony, Chloe, Shannon, Dillon, Grace, Gabriella, Michael, Liam, Fiona, Shea, Kylene, Bridget, Cullen, Luke, Brody, and his great grandchildren Michael, Sebastian, Aiden, Anthony, Ryan, Lucas, Johnny, Averie, Nova, Oakley; and

 

WHEREAS, William was born at St. Anne's Hospital to Emmet and Muriel Flood, and graduated from St Ignatius High School in 1957; and

 

WHEREAS, William met his wife, Carole at the age of 16 and married her on October 15,1960; and

 

WHEREAS, Having previously worked for small waste haulers, William and his brothers Joe and Emmet began their own waste hauling company in 1963, O.Z. Miller Disposal LTD growing the small firm of one truck to eight; and

 

WHEREAS, In 1970, Flood Bros Disposal Co. was incorporated and grew to 200 collection trucks in the last fifty plus years, remaining one ofthe last family-owned and operated waste haulers in the Chicago Metropolitan area today; and

 

WHEREAS, William and Carole's philanthropy extended to numerous organizations and were instrumental in Christmas Food Packing that would feed up to 4,000 families through various charities throughout the Cook, Dupage, and Kane counties; and

 

WHEREAS, William was a Board Member ofthe Daughters of St. Paul and was very involved with their organization; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, William K. Flood imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this, twenty-second day of June, 2022, do hereby commemorate William K. Flood for his grace-filled life and do hereby express pur condolences to his family; and?

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William ICFlood.
