RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of the North Shore, Harold Ramis was a widely admired writer and director and the loving husband of Erica; and
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis was the much-adored father of three children to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, Harold Ramis graduated from Senn High School and Washington University before working early in his career as a substitute teacher and freelance newspaper writer; and
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis joined the Second City comedy club and became the original head writer for the television series SCTV; and
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis went on to become an acclaimed writer and director of comedic films; and
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis' work in films included Ghostbusters, Stripes, Caddy shack, National Lampoon's Vacation, National Lampoon's Animal House, Groundhog Day and Analyze This; and
WHEREAS, The talent and vision of Harold Ramis will influence future generations of artists for many years to come; and
WHEREAS, The legacy and dedication of Harold Ramis serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Harold Ramis to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Harold Ramis will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Harold Ramis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of March, 2014, do hereby commemorate Harold Ramis for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harold Ramis.
