RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-six; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta was a widely admired member of the judicial community and the loving and devoted husband of Ruth; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta was the much-adored father of Mark and Scott and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Before being elected as a Circuit Court Judge, the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta served as a States Attorney and founded his own law practice; and
WHEREAS, After bravely serving his country in World War II, the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta earned his J.D. from Valparaiso University Law School; and
WHEREAS, Even after his retirement, the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta worked in legal arbitration and mediation; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta took great pride in his Italian and Sicilian heritage, sharing his ancestry with his family; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta will be remembered by his colleagues for his extraordinary work ethic; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta inspired the lives of countless people through his great personal goodness, charity and concern; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fourth day of May, 2011, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Angelo D. Mistretta.
