RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini was a widely admired Chicago restaurateur and the fiance of Donna Curry; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini was the much-adored father of Gina, Frank Jr., Alfredo and Lisa, the grandfather of eleven and the great-grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini was one of the proprietors of the Italian Village, Chicago's oldest Italian restaurant; and

 

WHEREAS, Raised in River Forest, Frank D. Capitanini attended Fenwick High School and the University of Notre Dame; and

 

WHEREAS, Along with his siblings, Frank D. Capitanini took over management of the restaurant in 1955; and

 

WHEREAS, Throughout the decades, the restaurant hosted celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Jon Bon Jovi, Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Andretti and Florence Henderson; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini eventually stepped back and handed over the operation of the eatery to the third generation of his family when he was in his sixties; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Frank D. Capitanini serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Frank D. Capitanini to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Frank D. Capitanini was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Frank D. Capitanini imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of May, 2018, do hereby commemorate Frank D. Capitanini for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Franl/D. Capitanini.
