RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert H. Bork has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 85; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert H. Bork was the loving and devoted husband of Mary Ellen and the late Claire; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert H. Bork was the much-adored father of Ellen, Robert, and Charles to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, At the age of seventeen, the Honorable Robert H. Bork entered the United States Marine Corps and served honorably during World War II and later during the Korean War; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert H. Bork earned his B.A. and his J.D. from the University of Chicago and was a Yale Law School Professor both from 1962 to 1973 and from 1977 to 1981; and
 
WHEREAS, From June 1973 fo 1977, the Honorable Robert H. Bork served as Solicitor General of the United States under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert H. Bork was a highly-respected judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit from 1982 to 1988; and
 
WHEREAS, A prominent constitutional lawyer and highly influential legal scholar, the Honorable Robert H. Bork authored several books and many essays; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Robert H. Bork serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Robert H. Bork to his.family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Robert H. Bork imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE JT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Robert H. Bork for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Robert H. Bork.
