RESOLUTION

 

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz was a retired Chicago journalist and media executive; and

WHEREAS, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz attended Peddie Prep School and the University of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz joined ABC News in Chicago as a reporter and producer and served his country in the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, A National Defense Service Medal, an O/S Bar Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device Aircraft Crewman Badge; and

WHEREAS, Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz worked for ABC News as a producer and assistant Bureau Chief in Saigon; and

WHEREAS, Upon his return to Chicago, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz worked again at ABC News before joining CBS News; and

WHEREAS, Michael "Hurricane" Horowitz later handled political campaigns and headed public relations for Playboy Clubs and Casinos; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

 

WHEREAS, To his five children, Jonathan, Erika, Tamara, Sam and David and his three adoring grandchildren, Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of December, 2017, do hereby commemorate Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael Nathan "Hurricane" Horowitz.
