RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING ROBERT AND ROSEMARY HOLBACH ON THEIR
70* WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, Robert and Rosemary Holbach, longtime West Walker neighbors, celebrated their 70th year of marriage in August, 2018; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been informed of this special occasion by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39,h Ward; and
WHEREAS, Bob and Rose married in August of 1948. To their union, six children were born. They raised them in their home on Springfield Avenue where they lived for sixty-four years. Throughout their life together, they have also been blessed with seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and
WHEREAS, Bob served in the United States Army during WWII before becoming a newspaper distributor for the Chicago American and the Chicago Tribune. Later, he became a letter carrier for the United States Postal Sen-ice. He was both an engaged community member and a devoted citizen; and
WHEREAS, Rose stayed at home while their children were growing up and then began working as a beloved cafeteria worker at Gordon Technical High School. She was known for her marvelous ... cooking and even won the Chicago Park District baking contest in 1992 for her celebrated rye bread; and
WHEREAS, Bob and Rose attribute their longevity and touching marriage to their healthy lifestyle and still encourage each other to stay active. When they retired in 1989, they began attending daily water aerobics classes at Independence Park and have continued that activity together since their retirement; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of their many years of love and devotion, the Chicago City Council believes Robert and Rosemary are richly deserving of good wishes as they celebrate entering their 70,h year of marriage; now, therefore,
BE, IT RESOLVED, That wc, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby congratulate Robert and Rosemary Holbach on their 70ih Wedding Anniversary and extend our very best wishes to the couple for many years to come.
