RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 100; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli was the loving husband of the late Christine; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli was the much-adored father of Felicia and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A member of "Our Greatest Generation," Angelo "Dick" Carparelli served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli flew aircraft across Europe with the Eighth Air Force; and
WHEREAS, After the War, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli settled in Evergreen Park and worked for his uncle, Charley Penna, who was the head golf professional at Beverly Country Club; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli was named Assistant Pro and eventually Head Pro and remained with the Club throughout the course of his long and storied career; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli gave thousands of members and celebrities instruction in how to drive, chip and putt and always taught that the grip and the stance were important elements of a good golf game; and
WHEREAS, In his retirement, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli enjoyed the title of Pro Emeritus and had a special table at the Club where he would discuss stories about its history and share golf tips; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli had a beautiful singing voice and loved to recite poetry from Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost and Shakespeare; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Angelo "Dick" Carparelli to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Angelo "Dick" Carparelli imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-seventh day of June, 2018, do hereby commemorate Angelo "Dick" Carparelli for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
