RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A prominent member of the legal community and prolific author of true-crime books, Vincent Bugliosi was born in Hibbing, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, The son of Italian immigrants, Vincent Bugliosi graduated from the University of Miami and UCLA Law School; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi first won renown as the Los Angeles County prosecutor who successfully secured the convictions of Charles Manson and his followers; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi was a member of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office when he was assigned to prosecute the brutal 1969 murders of actress Sharon Tate and seven others; and
WHEREAS, During his eight-year tenure as a prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosi never lost a murder trial and left the office in 1972 to open a private practice as a defense attorney; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi won acquittals of all the defendants he agreed to represent and refused to represent anyone whom he did not believe was innocent; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi later left the practice of law law and dedicated his career to writing; and
WHEREAS, In 1974 Vincent Bugliosi published the book Helter Skelter which recalled the investigation and prosecution of the Manson family and went on to author 11 more books, including And the Sea Will Tell, Outrage, Reclaiming History and Murder, and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Vincent Bugliosi serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Vincent Bugliosi was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his loving wife, Gail, and his two children, Vincent, Jr, and Wendy, Vincent Bugliosi imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby commemorate Vincent Bugliosi for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
