MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR MATTHEW S. RAIMONDI

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the passing of Matthew S. Raimondi on November 16, 2018 at the age of 94; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, born on February 20, 1924, Matthew S. Raimondi, lovingly referred to as Matt, was the adored son to the late Vito and the late Anna (nee Pedone) Raimondi. Matt was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Frank and Angie Sammarco nee Raimondi; daughter, Anne Natale (nee Raimondi) and precious grandson, Joseph Raimondi. Matt leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, Matt proudly served two years of active duty in Germany. He fulfilled his oath to protect his country and civic duty with honor and respect; and

WHEREAS, Matt married "Flemmie" (Filomena) Raimondi (nee Spilotro) and were blessed with four children for which they provided a loving home until her passing in 1994 at the age of 66; and

WHEREAS, Matt leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Margaret (Dominic) Caminiti, Vito (Carol) Raimondi, Matthew S. (Adriana) Raimondi Jr.; son-in-law, Christopher Natale; brother of Elizabeth "Liz Peters" and loving companion to Jackie Ribaldo; blessed grandfather to thirteen and great-grandfather twenty and many extended family members and treasured friends; and

WHEREAS, Matt touched the lives of all who knew him through his caring and vivacious spirit. He will be sorely missed but fondly remembered for his sincere character, vast intelligence and service to our country; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and Member of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered together this thirteenth day of March, 2019, do hereby express our most sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Matthew S. Raimondi; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Matthew S. Raimondi as a sign of our honor and respect.
