RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman EdwardM. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki was the loving wife for 65 years of Charles, C, a retired Chicago Police Department Commander; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki was a popular South. Side funeral director for more than 60 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Gentle, forgiving and generous, Celene Siedlecki was the much-adored mother of Charles and Patrick and the grandmother of three; and
 
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Canaryville, Celene Siedlecki studied at the Worsham College of Mortuary Science; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki was proud of her roots in the neighborhood where in 1873 her grandfather established the original Thomas Mclnerney's Sons Funeral Home, one of Chicago's oldest mortuaries; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki was the last surviving member of a trio of sisters that took over the operation of the funeral home at 4635 South Wallace Street during the 1960s; andr
 
WHEREAS, The funeral home was- mentioned in Mike Royko's book "Boss" because it was often visited during wakes by Mayor Richard J. Daley; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki always faced life's adversities with dignity, grace and courage; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Celene Siedlecki serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, Celene Siedlecki will' be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Celene Siedlecki imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby commemorate Celene Siedlecki for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Celene Siedlecki. /
