RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, David E. McKee has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired musician and the pipe major of the Stock Yard Kilty Band from 1975 to 2003, David E. McKee was the beloved husband for forty-four years of Kitty; and
WHEREAS, David E. McKee was the proud father of David, Jr., Matthew, Daniel and Luke to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A proud Scotsman and veteran of the Korean War, David E. McKee served as a member ofthe 441st Counterintelligence Corps; and
WHEREAS, David E. McKee received a bachelor's degree from Loyola University and spent thirty-two years in sales for Anheuser-Busch; and
WHEREAS, In 1950 David E. McKee joined the Stock Yard Kilty Band, which is one of the oldest such ensembles in the United States; and
WHEREAS, For more than four decades, David E. McKee was an active member of the Stock Yard Kilty Band and played for dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II and President John F. Kennedy; and
WHEREAS, A talented and committed bagpipe teacher, David E. McKee was a mentor and instructor to many appreciative students; and
WHEREAS, David E. McKee touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of David E. McKee serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared David E. McKee to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, David E. McKee imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate David E. McKee for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David E. McKee.
