MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Renee Bennett-Buben on March 3, 2014, at the age of 70; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The deeply beloved and admired wife of Charles Buben; daughter of the late Rainey and late Ann Bennett, dear sister of Pamela (Peter) Butterfield and Anthony Bennett; loving aunt to Jessie Butterfield, Liz (Denis) Jean-Pierre, Lin (Dana) Takrudtong and Jinny Bennett; special great "auntie" to Denis and Olivia Jean Pierre; step daughters Jessica Buben (Gareth Gollrad) and Audrey (Bill) Love; step grandmother to William and Henry Love; Renee leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, seamlessly juggling the challenging balance of family and professional advancement, Renee was a real estate professional for nearly forty years, helping families in her community reach the milestone of homeownership with professionalism and care for her real estate clients; and
WHEREAS, Renee gave tirelessly of herself in numerous projects and issues affecting the community, and was a fervently involved member of her community serving on the board of the Sauganash Chamber of Commerce and as President and member of the Sauganash Community Association; and
WHEREAS, a friend of the environment, Renee respected the importance of trees, flowers and natural beauty in her community, and expressed her capability for dedicated nurturing in her beautiful flower arrangements; and
WHEREAS, Renee adored her German Shepherds, loved participating in both the educational, as well as social aspect, of book groups, and was an expressive, poetic writer. Above all she held friends dear, maintaining close friendships with many for a lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Renne will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this second day of April 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Renee Bennett-Buben and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Renee Bennett-Buben as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
