RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 94; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Western Springs, Francis J. Reilly was the loving husband of. Rita, nee Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly was the much-adored father of Mary Ellen, Daniel, James, Patti and Kate and the grandfather of eleven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly graduated from DePaul University where he went on to earn his law degree; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly served his country during World War II in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly enjoyed a long and highly successful career as an attorney before becoming an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly joined the law firm of Daley 8s Lynch in 1948 and worked with future Chicago Mayors Richard J. Daley and Richard M. Daley; and
WHEREAS, Following 33 years of distinguished service, the Honorable Francis J. Reilly left the firm of Daley, Reilly 8& George in 1981 when he was elevated to the bench; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Francis J. Reilly serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Francis J. Reilly to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Francis J. Reilly will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Francis J. Reilly imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Francis J. Reilly for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Francis J. Reilly.
