RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice has been called to eternal life bv the wisdom of God at the age of 53; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice was the loving and devoted husband of Madonna with whom he shared many years of happiness; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice was the much-adored father of Kevin, Brendan, Colin, and Eileen to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice was the cherished son of Kenneth and Elizabeth; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice was a beloved brother to Kenneth, Robert, John, William and Scott; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice was employed by the City of Chicago Department of Public Works, served as Deputy Budget Director for almost thirteen years and directed the Department of Water Management as Commissioner for more than five years; and
 
WHEREAS, Richard A. Rice spent 23 years of his career in outstanding service to the City of Chicago and was widely respected for his skills as a budget analyst; and
 
WHEREAS, A consummate professional, Richard A. Rice was also a consultant who used his wide-experience, attention to detail and practical wisdom to ensure the timely and efficient completion of projects; and
 
WHEREAS, A prominent member of the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood and supporter of many worthwhile causes, Richard A. Rice leaves a lasting legacy of hard work, sacrifice and dedication that will continue to benefit our City for years to come; and
 
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Richard A. Rice to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Richard A. Rice imparts a example of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2013, do hereby commemorate Richard A. Rice for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the familv of Richard A. Rice.
