RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon was a widely admired Chicago business and union leader and the^loving husband of Yvonne; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon was the much-adored father of Robert, Beth, Tim, the late Tommy and Johnny and the grandfather of two; and

 

WHEREAS, Born in Greenwich Village, New York, Thomas Fitzgibbon moved to Chicago in 1976 and led a life that was characterized by integrity, personal courage and professional achievement; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon enjoyed a long and. highly successful career as the President of Twentieth, Century Services, a Chicago-based security firm; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon was widely recognized' for his many civic contributions to the City of Chicago and the State oflllinois; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon served as a board'member of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau, the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority and the Illinois Toll Highway Authority; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon was a Past President of Chicago Special Olympics and served as a Trustee of Mercy Hospital and as a Director of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon held positions in four unions and was International Vice President of the Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon traveled the world .-representing the International Transport Federation headquartered in London; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard -work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas Fitzgibbon serve as an example to all; and

 

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas. Fitzgibbon to his -family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Thomas Fitzgibbon was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas Fitzgibbon imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby commemorate Thomas Fitzgibbon for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Fitzgibbon.
