MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Martin J. Murray, on December 10, 2015, at the age of seventy-one; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on March 1, 1944, to the late Martin T. and Beatrice Murray. Martin was the beloved husband of forty-nine years to the late Kathleen J., nee Koulback; loving father of Kaitlynn (Tom) Philbin, Sheila (Bill, Ret. Sgt., CPD) Schnoor, Marty (Kori) Patrick, Commander - CCSPD (Deanne), Danny (Iva), and Joe Murray (CFD); dearest grandpa of Jessica, Brittany, Ryan, Bridget, Brendan, Caroline, Megan, Dane, Tommy, Marty, Logan, Andrew and Eva Jean; dear brother of Jim (Grace) Murray, Joan (the late Jack) Schuh and the late Bob (Cmdr. CPD) and Sharon, Bill (Sgt. CPD) (Lee), Jean and Jim (Det. CPD) Mahon and Tommy Murray; cherished brother-in-law of Mary Lou (the late Joe) Sullivan and the late Ted (Mary Jean) and Peggy Koulback; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Martin leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Martin retired from the Chicago Police Department after twenty-two years of service and had been proprietor of Slammer Inn, Darby O'Gill's and Murray's Pub. He was an active and vital member of his community who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity and spirit. Martin will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him, now, therefore.
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of January, 2016, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Martin J. Murray and express to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
