MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Gregory Thomas Karacic, on June 5, 2014, at the age of fifty-eight; arid
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, born on September 10,1955 to doting parents Anne Karacic of Lake in the Hills, IL and Thomas J. (Carmelita) Karacic of Chicago; Gregory was the loving husband of Barbara Jo, nee Adams, of Donalsonville, Georgia; amazing step-father of Brandon Hornsby of Bainbridge, Georgia; cherished brother of Dr. Joseph (Barbara) Karacic of Lake Forest, IL, Roseanne (Lewis) Christman of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Elaine (Timothy) Donovan of Scottsdale, Arizona; treasured uncle of Steven, Christopher, Michael Karacic; Jack, Kara, Maggie, Lukas, Annemarie Donovan; and great friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Gregory leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and abundant remembrances of his contagious smile, hearty laugh, good humor, playful spirit and acts characteristic of his warm heart and affectionate nature; and
 
WHEREAS, Gregory served his country in the United States Navy and later worked as the Purchasing Executive for John B. Sanfilippo and Son in Bainbridge, Georgia, while always seamlessly balancing his responsibility to his family with his commitment to his career; and
 
WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Gregory belonged to the American Legion Post #157 in Donalsonville, Georgia and remained always committed to community service and support and appreciation for those who served their country; and
 
WHEREAS, Gregory kept strong ties to his roots in Chicago and touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, authenticity, generosity and loyalty will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and zest for life will live on in those who knew and loved him; and now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirtieth day of July, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Gregory Thomas Karacic and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
 
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gregory Thomas Karacic.
