RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 56; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Villa Park, Peter Schaudt was a renowned landscape architect and the loving husband of Janet; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt graduated with a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Chicago and earned a master's degree in landscape architecture from Harvard University; and
WHEREAS, A protege of celebrated Vermont landscape architect Dan Kiley, Peter Schaudt used his unique combination of academic training to focus on the integration of land and architecture; and
WHEREAS, After returning to Chicago and establishing his own landscape architecture company, Peter Schaudt partnered with Douglas Hoerr to form the firm of Hoerr Schaudt in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt was responsible for many high-profile projects in Chicago and throughout the nation that made a difference in the everyday lives of people; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt designed a project that replaced concrete parking lots outside Soldier Field with 17-acres of beautiful lakefront parkland that included a skyline view and a sledding hill; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt also shaped a series of outdoor spaces on the Illinois Institute of Technology's campus on the South Side of Chicago as well as a plaza outside Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Peter Schaudt serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Peter Schaudt to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Peter Schaudt will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his wife, Janet, his son, Elliot, his daughter, Elaine, his father, Harry, and his two brothers, Eric and James, Peter Schaudt imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of July, 2015, do hereby commemorate Peter Schaudt for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peter Schaudt.
