RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Batavia, the Honorable George Kramer was a former Sheriff of Kane County and the loving husband of Trudy; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer was the much-adored father of seven children, 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer earned a bachelor's degree in criminal social justice from Lewis University and began his career in 1955 as a police officer in Batavia; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer rose through the ranks to become a Captain in the Batavia Police Department and in 1976 was named President of the Illinois Police Association; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer won election as Kane County Sheriff in 1978 and served for two terms in office until 1986; and
 
WHEREAS, Throughout his long and illustrious career, the Honorable George Kramer upheld the finest and most noble traditions of the law enforcement community; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer later served for many years as Superintendent of Grounds and Maintenance at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable George Kramer serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable George Kramer to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable George Kramer will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable George Kramer imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable George Kramer for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable George Kramer.
