RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edward Fiala has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Northbrook, the Honorable Edward Fiala was a widely admired member of the judiciary and the loving husband for 64 years of Sue, nee Scroggs; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edward Fiala was the much-adored father of Libby, Edward III and Susan and the grandfather of seven to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edward Fiala enjoyed a highly successful career in the legal profession before ably serving as a member of the Cook County Circuit Court from 1976 to 2002; and
WHEREAS, A highpoint in the judicial career of the Honorable Edward Fiala was his appointment in 1990 as a Criminal Court Judge at 26th Street and California Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, the Honorable Edward Fiala was recognized by his peers as a true gentleman of keen intellect who was tirelessly dedicated to the highest ideals of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Edward Fiala serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Edward Fiala to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Edward Fiala was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Edward Fiala imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-fourth day of September 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Edward Fiala for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
