RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime Chicago Defender society columnist, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks was the "Grand Dame" of the African-American journalism community in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Born in Chicago, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks graduated from Parker High School; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks attended the University of Illinois, Roosevelt University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she studied fashion design; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks began her legendary career at the Chicago Defender in 1961 and never went anywhere without her camera, amassing a rare and impressive photo collection; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro boasted an unprecedented list of contacts which she assembled over her 50 years at the newspaper; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks worked alongside such luminaries at the newspaper as Vernon Jarrett and Marjorie Stewart Joyner; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks was a role model for generations of journalists who had the pleasure of knowing her; and
WHEREAS, A woman of dignity, grace and style, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks was an expert seamstress who fashioned many of her own clothes; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of February, 2016, do hereby commemorate Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Theresa "TeeSee" Fambro Hooks.
