RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley was the loving husband of Judith M., nee Seegert, and the late Betty Jane, nee Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley was the much-adored father of Patrick, Matthew and the late James and the grandfather of four; and

 

WHEREAS, The son of a railroad switchman, the Honorable Morgan M. Finley was raised on South Lowe Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood where he came to know the late Mayor Richard J. Daley; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley graduated from De LaSalle Institute and served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley graduated from Bryant-Stratton Business College and worked as Secretary of the 11th Ward Regular Democratic Organization; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley pursued a career in public service and went on to become an Illinois State Senator, the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley was also a former Illinois State Central Committeeman and former Lyons Township Democratic Committeeman; and

 

WHEREAS, Proud of his ethnic roots, the Honorable Morgan M. Finley was a Past President of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, loyalty and dedication of the Honorable Morgan M. Finley serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Morgan M. Finley to his family members, friends and all who

 

 

knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, The Honorable Morgan M. Finley will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Morgan M. Finley imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Morgan M. Finley for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family ofthe Hcmprable Morgan M. Finley.
