RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago Sightseeing Company, which has proudly served our City for 108 years, will be honored with the Excellence in Business Award bestowed by the Italian American Chamber of Commerce on November 21, 2015; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Italian American Chamber of Commerce is an association of professionals and businesses that seeks to promote friendly relations amongst its members and promote civic pride; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago Sightseeing Company was founded in 1907 and purchased by Henry Ferrone and his wife, Fannie, in 1919; and

 

WHEREAS, Generations of the Ferrone family have run the Chicago Sightseeing Company over these many years and continue to demonstrate excellence in the tourism and sightseeing industry in the 21st Century; and

 

WHEREAS, Over its long and rich history, the Chicago Sightseeing Company has pioneered the sightseeing industry in Chicago and is the originator of sightseeing and shuttle bus systems in our City; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago Sightseeing Company is currently operated by Donald and Fran Ferrone who oversee a vast fleet of deluxe busses, trolleys and double-decker busses that provide transportation and tour services; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago Sightseeing Company will be presented with this award at a ceremony held at the Montgomery Club, 500 West Superior Street, Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Donald and Fran Ferrone serve as an example to all; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of November, 2015 do hereby congratulate the Chicago Sightseeing Company on receiving this prestigious honor and do hereby express our best wishes for its future success; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald and Fran Ferrone, proprietors of the Chicago Sightseeing Company.
