RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 69; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward-M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis was a former Mayor of the Village of Dolton and the loving husband of Mary; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis was the much-adored father of Angelique and Angelirie to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A native of'-"Lexington, Mississippi, the Honorable Ronnie Lewis graduated from Tennessee State University and came to Chicago in 1966 where he pursued a career in education and earned a master of arts degree from Roosevelt University; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis ably served for three decades with the Chicago Public Schools before retiring in 2002 as Assistant Principal at Harlan Community Academy; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis was a Village Trustee from 1991 until 2008 when he was became the Mayor of Dolton upon the death of incumbent William Shaw; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis served as Mayor until 2013 and during his tenure took pride in the new businesses that opened on the Village's main commercial strip along Sibley Boulevard; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Ronnie Lewis serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Ronnie Lewis to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ronnie Lewis was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by-his many-relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Ronnie Lewis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-first day of January, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Ronnie Lewis for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Ronnie Lewis.
