RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 66; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert was the Executive Director of Court Theatre in Hyde Park and the loving husband of Terri; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert was the much-adored father of Jessica to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert was the dear brother of Larry; and

 

WHEREAS, During his tenure at Court Theatre, Stephen J. Albert presided over a period of growth and fostered a close alliance with the University of Chicago which houses its operations; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert was pivotal in Court Theatre's efforts to reach out to African-American communities; and

 

WHEREAS, Hailed as a man of "creative passion and evangelical energy" by the Chicago Tribune, Stephen J. Albert previously worked as Managing Director at Hartford Stage in Connecticut and in leadership positions at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and the Alley Theatre in Houston; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Stephen J. Albert serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Stephen J. Albert to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, Stephen J. Albert was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Stephen J. Albert imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2018, do hereby commemorate Stephen J. Albert for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stephen J. Albert.
