RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Bill Hood has announced his intention to retire as Managing Director, Corporate Affairs, for American Airlines; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his intention by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Bill Hood is a highly respected leader in the aviation industry; and
 
WHEREAS, A proud alumnus of Northwestern University School of Law, Bill Hood worked for the Better Government Association for several years after graduation; and
 
WHEREAS, Bill Hood was a Vice President at Continental Bank for fifteen years and a Vice President at LaSalle Bank for three years; and
 
WHEREAS, From 1994 to the present, Bill Hood has played an important role in building Chicago's aviation capacity; and
 
WHEREAS, As Managing Director, Corporate Affairs, for American Airlines, Bill Hood maintained close working relationships with state and local government agencies and community organizations; and
 
WHEREAS, Working mainly in Illinois, New York, Massachusetts and Washington, DC, Bill Hood dealt with issues relating to airline regulations, airport operations and general business matters; and
 
WHEREAS, Along with his wife, Vicki, Bill Hood has made significant contributions to the charitable and cultural life of our great metropolis; and
 
WHEREAS, As generous supporters of the Bluhm Legal Clinic, Bill and Vicki Hood have helped advance much-needed legal reforms and enabled Northwestern University law students to acquire the hands-on training they need to succeed in their careers; and
 
WHEREAS, As a member of the board of trustees of Columbia College Chicago, Bill Hood has worked to keep our city a prime educational choice for students from across the country and around the world; and
 
 
WHEREAS, Bill Hood's professional excellence, strong leadership and dedication to Chicago serve as an outstanding example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, On June 27, 2013, family, friends and colleagues will gather to honor Bill Hood's many achievements; and
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of June, 2013, do hereby congratulate Bill Hood on his distinguished career and his eighteen years of service to American Airlines and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bill Hood.
