RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, David Schippers has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 88; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A resident of Gray slake, David Schippers was a widely respected member of the legal community and the loving husband of Jacquelin; and

 

WHEREAS, David Schippers was the much-adored father of David, Kate, Antoinette, Ann, Colleen, Mimi, Thomas, Kevin, Patrick and Peter, the grandfather of twenty-six and the great-grandfather of twenty-nine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and \

 

WHEREAS, A former Chicago defense attorney and federal prosecutor, David Schippers served as the Republican Chief Investigator for the House Judiciary Committee as it weighed the impeachment of President Bill Clinton; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of the Northwest Side, David Schippers earned his bachelor's and law degrees from Loyola University of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, During his nearly six decades as a lawyer, David Schippers also represented white collar defendants linked to Navistar and law enforcement officers accused of wrongdoing; and

 

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of David Schippers serve as an example to all; and

 

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared David Schippers to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

 

WHEREAS, David Schippers was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, David Schippers imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirty-first day of October, 2018, do hereby commemorate David Schippers for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Schippers.
