RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski was a retired member of the judicial community and one of the longest-serving judges in Illinois; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski was the much-adored father of Henry and the Honorable Elizabeth and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski was the dear brother of Jenny, Louis, Olga and Eddie; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski ably served for 34 years on the bench, including 18 years as Presiding Judge of the Probate Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski was also a former Interim Acting Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski presided over many high-profile cases, including the estates of candy heiress Helen Vorhees Brach, Chicago Bears owner George Halas, Sr. and Nation of Islam founder Elijah Muhammad; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski will be remembered for his knowledge of the law, intelligence and compassion; and
 
WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II and a member of our "greatest generation," the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski served his country in the United States Army Air Corps; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski serve as an example to all; and
 
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Henry A. Budzinski will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of March, 2015, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Henry A. Budzinski.
