RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Pechous has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of seventy-nine; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Pechous was the loving and devoted husband of Elizabeth; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert Pechous was the beloved father of Timothy, Robert, Laura, Rebecca and Cora to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, A proud native of Berwyn, the Honorable Robert Pechous received a bachelor's degree in political science from Southern Illinois University; and
 
WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, the Honorable Robert Pechous was a sergeant during the Korean War; and
 
WHEREAS, After eight years as the City Clerk of Berwyn, the Honorable Robert Pechous served as an Illinois state representative for three terms; and
 
WHEREAS, Subsequent to his legislative career, the Honorable Robert Pechous was appointed Executive Director of the Berwyn Development Corp., won election as the Berwyn Township Supervisor and was President of the Berwyn Public Health District; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Robert Pechous serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Robert Pechous to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Robert Pechous imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Robert Pechous for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Robert Pechous.
