RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 84; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A resident of Gurnee, the Honorable Robert W. Depke was a veteran Lake County official and the loving husband for 45 years of George Anne; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke was the much-adored father of Robert, Shawn, Michael, Braden, Kellie and Bowen, the grandfather of fourteen and the great-grandfather of one to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke was a former Chairman of and a three-term Lake County Board member; and
 
WHEREAS, During his long and illustrious tenure, the Honorable Robert W. Depke's leadership helped to stop the closure of the Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke supported the growth of major corporations in Lake County, including Abbott Laboratories and Baxter International; and
 
WHEREAS, A widely admired political figure, the Honorable Robert W. Depke was a former longtime Warren Township Supervisor whose accomplishments included opening a senior center and establishing numerous youth programs; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke served in the National Guard during the Korean War; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Robert W. Depke serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared the Honorable Robert W. Depke to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Depke will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Robert W. Depke imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirtieth day of July, 2014, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Robert W. Depke for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of the Honorable Robert W. Depke.
