To: Members of the Committee on Finance and the City Council From: Scott Waguespack, Chairman, Committee on Finance RE: Status of R2020-169

April 19, 2021 Dear colleagues,

Periodically during the last year, there has been discussion of what various department heads are doing to mitigate risk and reduce the costs of various claims against the City. In response to these questions, as well as R2020-169, the Committee on Finance is in the process of coordinating a hearing on risk management efforts. It is important to know what measures are being taken by departments, and to discuss what may be improved upon to save the City and taxpayers money. I was hoping to wait until a new Chief Risk Officer had been brought on board, but it is time we move ahead regardless.

I expect we will be able to schedule that meeting in May.

Thank you,
